…and that’s according to Adrian Lockwood who Chairs the Oxfordshire Skills Board and is also a Board Member of the Oxfordshire Local Enterprise Partnership (OxLEP). In an article published recently in the Oxford Mail, he and Nigel Tipple (pictured above), Chief Executive of OxLEP discuss the skills priorities in Oxfordshire, including the need for more people to enter the construction industry.
The newly-elected government has stated its intention to oversee 3 million new Apprenticeships over the next 5 years and with multiple major housing developments planned across Oxfordshire, Mr Lockwood sees that the Construction industry has a major role locally in contributing towards that target; “The biggest area for apprenticeships in Oxfordshire will be construction because we’re heading into a big infrastructure phase.”
